4th of July Cabin

We bought a few days at our Bishops' cabin at the scout auction. Turned out to be pretty nice! Check it out at www.priestlakevacations.com and click on the cabin called "Vista". The fireworks at Priest Lake Hills resort were great too! We can't wait till next years scout auction! Thanks Bishop!

The most exciting thing so far this summer

We were 2 1/2 blocks from the mandatory evacuation zone due to wildfire. So far 8 homes have been lost. Now would have been a good time to have those 72 hour kits ready instead of playing at the lake!

I've resorted to stealing!

If you've seen the movie "Mad Money", you'll know what I mean. My life of crime has begun with stealing pictures from other blogs. I stole this picture off Mishawn's ward blog. This is her relief society enrichment activity stroller walking group. She's the middle mom with the white hoodie and I think it's cute. Who knows what I'm capable of doing next?

Favorite number: 24 (Every basketball jersey worn by a Minarik had the number 24 on it.)

24 years ago, you were a beautiful baby boy with an Elvis wave to your hair, dark brown eyes, and a serene spirit. We struggled a bit at first, each trying to figure out our new life together. You were such a joy! I thought I was the best mom in the whole world, this is easy! Really you just made me look good! I still see that little boy with the bowl cut hair. I knew you were growing up when you wouldn't let me cut it anymore. 24 years goes by so fast... What will the next 24 years be like? The balls in your court now and I'm your biggest fan.

Food Shortage

You would think that there is some kind of food shortage or something? I am going to the cannery today, which I do on occasion, but instead of the normal 5-6 people in the group, we have 26 people signed up to go this morning. CRAZY! I'm just excited to go to see how this is going to work!
Would you like to hear my water storage story? We had to get a new furnace last month (which is another story) and they had to move our hot water tank to make things "code". Well, I had two of these 55 gallon water barrels in the furnace room that I never did fill with water so I decided I liked the room less cluttered and put one of the water barrels in the scout auction, knowing I had 500 gallons of water in our jacuzzi. Why would I need more than that? I'd keep the one 55 gallon for fresh drinking water because eeww I don't exactly like the idea of drinking the jacuzzi water, but hey, beggars can't be choosers! Later that week (after we sold the one water barrel), I decide to view my enormous back-up water supply. I lift the lid to discover there is no water in our jacuzzi. I call Bob on his cell phone and ask him if he drained the hot tub. He says no, that it was fine the last time he checked ( I wonder when was the last time he checked it). I think this might be the perfect opportunity to get rid of this enormous headache, so I ask, "What are we going to do with it?" Bob says,"I'm going to fix it!" So as it stands at this moment, I have one empty 55 gallon water barrel, one empty jacuzzi and a few water bottles in the garage. Let's hope Mt. St. Helens doesn't decide to blow today!

Should I be posting?

I knew it, I just knew it... I would not be a very good blogger. I have tried to teach my children to not think defeatest thoughts before they even begin, and now look at me, doing exactly opposite what I would expect from them. I never got into the scrapbook thing, I don't know why I thought blogging would be any different? For all you out there who occasionally check to see if I did post... thanks for not giving up. For all you out there who post on a regular basis... thanks for keeping me up to date. I love reading your blogs!
